It’s the age old question – does success come from perspiration or inspiration? Talent or sheer hard work?

The truth isn’t completely black and white, as genuine world-class natural ability can be enough to achieve at least a degree of success. However, for the vast majority of elite performers in any industry it’s their work ethic that provides the biggest deciding factor in accomplishments. The person willing to commit more to a goal will win almost every time over their competition. It’s the ultimate leveller.

We discovered someone on our wave length when we met Australian model Lucciana Beynon.

Despite being born with supermodel genes (her father is the international playboy businessman Travers Beynon and her mother is Venezuelan former beauty queen Ninibeth Leal) she’s not relying on her cheekbones to make her successful – she’s committed to working harder than anyone else in her way.

We found out her Focus Five.

1. WHO: in your life inspires you?

My dad is definitely my biggest inspiration. I’ve watched him come from very little to become who he is and have what he has today. He inspires me every day with his motivational pep talks and life lessons. My other biggest inspiration is Naomi Campbell, she was the best! She was so confident and fierce it made her stand out so much compared to everyone else and that is who I aspire to be like, and whenever I’m modelling, I think of Naomi Campbell.

2. WHAT: does your absolute achievement look like?

My dream is to walk the runway for Victoria’s Secret and become an Angel, this has been my goal for as long as I can remember. I love Victoria Secret because there are so many different personalities in each model as well as diversity, it’s sexy but classy and it’s everything I want to do and present myself as.

3. WHEN: is the next opportunity to take another step in the right direction towards your success?

The next step in the right direction for my success is finally turning 18 and making the move to overseas to pursue my career. I will continue to work on adding more pictures to my portfolio and go to every casting that comes my way. Thankfully I am lucky enough to have a father like mine who fully supports me in everything I do, a piece of advice he once gave myself and my brother was that we will learn the most from traveling. When I move, he is going to stay with me for a little while until I settle in and then from there, I know I’ll probably FaceTime him 3 times a day.

4. WHERE: you’ve visited that drives you to achieve your end goal?

Definitely America it drives me to my goal, even more because I feel like it is a different vibe there, more opportunities, better work ethics and more people to know, it’s a big place.

5. WHY: a memory of something you’ve done and WHY it pushes you to keep chasing after your dream?

A memory I’ve had that pushes me to chase my goal is my first photo shoot, the feeling you get when you’re doing something you truly enjoy. I was young, but I knew from that moment that’s what I wanted to do and wanted to become. I know people say to have a backup plan but for me my backup plan is to keep trying, try again and as my dad told me “your work ethic and determination will get you further than your looks”.
